Project: UH Gaming Hub

Group Members: Tuan Do, John Gabriel Martinez, Ella Self, Mason Vuong, Peyton Young
This project idea was collaborately made and may not be the actual project we are creating.

Problem

Many students at UH play video games and may not be able to find other students to play video games with, and thus play alone, making the game less fun to play. Having an easier way of finding other students to play with can create new connections and improve students’ gaming experience.

Solution

This UH Gaming Hub application is where students are able to customize their game library, as well as list their gaming preferences, in order to find other students that play the same games as them. This game library in this application will include a multitude of popular video games, discord servers, and other UH events related to gaming, to help connect other students who are interested in gaming.

• Find other players page

Use case ideas

• New user goes to landing page, signs up, gets to their home page, sets up profile (customizes game library, preferences, username)
• User goes to landing page, logs in, gets to their home page, and can look at their game library and user details.
• User can also go to community page, listing discords or other groups involving UH video games that are in their library
• User can look at the Looking for game home page or Find other players page to play games with other students who have similar game libraries or are looking to play.
• User can favorite a game in their game library, and select whether to show or hide games from other students.
• Admins can moderate user activity and can be contacted if user has issues.

Beyond the basics

Some more advanced features that could be implemented are:

• An esports page, listing information about UH Esports, such as tryout dates, upcoming games, etc.
• A way to keep track of your previous gaming history
• A trending page of games that students have been playing recently
• Auto updated information about game updates and game news for each game.
• Notifications via Email or SMS about gaming sessions you are interested in.
